Both gabapentin and lyrica do not touch the nerve pain until the dosage is at the proper level. You have to work your way up but once you hit the proper dosage they can give. From what i understood neurontin is a namebrand with gabapentin being the generic. Lyrica is made by the same manufacturer as neurontin and since it is still new. There is also gabapentin, cymbalta, etc. Gabapentin is pretty similar to lyrica. Cymbalta is another anti depressant, but has a tougher side effect profile for some folks.
